Human Resource Manager
I knew my challenges were big when I first joined this
company. The HR function needed a major overhaul to bring
it up to date, and managers were presenting me with
potential legal problems every week. Sometimes they were
safety issues that had to be immediately addressed, but
others wouldn't have happened if they had only been better
managers and leaders. Since I was still awaiting approval
on my software upgrades, I knew that management development
was even further down the list and wouldn't be happening any
day soon. Each day I did my best, and each night, I went
home more tired and overwhelmed. One of the principles in
TruLeaderU® had been my coach, so when she heard my story she
suggested I join their next virtual class. I jumped on the
opportunity. The leaders were fabulous at sharing best
practices and pulling wisdom from everyone in the class. I
had brought some of my group leaders along, and they were
able to fully participate even though they were new to this
management and leadership thing. What a convenient and easy
way to learn I didn't have to pay for their travel or hotel
and the cost of the course was incredibly reasonable. I
have received a level of content and training well beyond
what I could afford or develop or source elsewhere.
Bottom-line: I can grow my managers and get back to the work
that only I can do. I m even going home at a reasonable
time these days. Thank you TruLeaderU® .

New Manager
A
couple of years ago - when I thought of making the leap into
management - I was both excited and scared to death. Now I
would be responsible for getting the results from people who
had been my peers. What if they didn't listen to me? I also
realized, I had a severe confidence problem (in myself) and
thank God, a boss who believed in me.
Although my company
occasionally held training for managers, I hadn't attended
anything because our accounting department was really
short-handed. Recently, when my boss suggested I try a
TruLeaderU® course, I was concerned that I might not fit in
with people who would probably know a lot more than me. What
a relief to learn that whether we are new or old to
management, we were all dealing with people challenges.
The tele-seminar leaders
gently encouraged me to speak up, and I quickly got involved
with our discussions. They helped me see that I already knew
a lot about leading (guess that's why I was selected to be a
manger), and just needed additional tools.
The models we learned about
were so right on for me, and after each week's class, I
would meet with my team and let them know what I was going
to be working on in-between classes. Opening myself up to
them, helped me to stay committed to applying the practices
I was learning in class, and it actually was developing us
as a team as well.
I love taking a TLU tele-seminars
now, because I know I will get meat I can apply back on the
job. The confidence I get right there on the phone by
interacting with other learners. I m getting to love being a
manager now that I have both tools and support.

Training and Support Manager
As the person responsible for my team's development, I
listened with some skepticism to the person talking to me
about TruLeaderU® . Coming from such a large company, I was
used to getting lots of pitches that didn't compare to our
corporate training. I quickly changed my mind when my team
and I attended a TruLeaderU® Tele-Seminar.
Being as busy as we are, we don't often get to take
advantage of our in-house training, especially when it
requires us to travel to Atlanta. I guess it was kind of
funny that I was so distrustful of training that could
happen via teleconferencing given who I work for, but I
found this really worked for me and my managers. The
materials were outstanding, the class leaders challenged us
to fully participate at all time, and the tele-seminars fit
easily into our work schedules. Applying the concepts
in-between classes helped us to get much higher on-the-job
results one of my goals. One week I was working at home,
and loved being able to call in from anywhere I was (not to
mention we saved both time and travel dollars). This is an
outstanding way to learn.

More than 40 years ago, I was given my very first management
position leading a team of one other professional and five
very, very new student-workers. When I look back at that
beginning, I wonder how they ever survived my seat of the
pants management style. Experience gives you some
expertise, but it comes at a high price. I only wish that
TLU was around to have helped me during that very first
foray into management. Thirty some-odd years later, I am
still learning the art of management and leadership, but now
I have a place to re-check my thinking, learn new
approaches, and discuss possibilities with other experienced
managers and leaders through TruLeaderU® . Everyone needs a
reality check now and then. Just because you did it one way
for a long time does not mean that there isn't a new or
better way to accomplish the same thing. TLU has let me
explore and learn some new tricks for this old dog.
