 When I took my first TruLeaderU® course, I didn't know what
to expect in outcomes, but I did know I had to do something
about my dissatisfaction regarding how my Veterinary Clinic
was running. Our medicine was great, but the team regularly
disappointed me. I knew we could do better.
In my very
first TLU class, I came to realize that in my role as leader
there was much room for improvement. I learned about how to
create a high performing team and how to delegate and use it
to develop (instead of frustrate) my staff. In Vet School,
we got 6 weeks of accounting that was it when it came to
management and leadership skills.
I spent the last several
years trying to make things work the way I always thought
they would, but with a busy practice I found myself always
out of time to do what I wanted with my staff. At first, I
wasn't sure if I could even fit in 1 hour a week, but it
quickly became my favorite place to be. You see, I could
explore my frustrations and learn new ways that actually
made a difference when I got back on the job. Things aren't
perfect yet, but we're on our way and I'm picking up the
skills I need to create the practice of my dreams one hour
